Strausberg, the green city
General
Strausberg is famous for its green landscape, clean air, beautiful
lakes and untouched forests. The Straus-lake and Bötz-lake
offer brilliant possibilities for water sports. Berliner citizens
enjoy relaxing in the landscape with its forests and lakes around
Strausberg.
Strausberg is easy to reach by train, the Berliner S-Bahn, by
car and even by plane. Main tourist attractions are the church
of Sankt Marien (built in the 13th century), the impressive ancient
city wall, and the city building (old town hall). They are beautiful
remains of the past. There are a lot of oppotunities for swimming,
rowing, fishing and surfing as well as horse riding and golfing.
A
lot of hiking trails or resting areas as well as bathing spots
offer a great recreation value in an around the town. More than
100km of trails are singed for biking and hiking. The sports and
recreation park, horse ranches for ridnig and golfing areas are
perfect for making sports. strasuberg got its name "the green city
at the lake" because of lying in the landscape "Strausberg- and
Blumenthaler forest and lake area". A further attractions is the
100-year-old trolley. Mainly citizens do use it during the weekdays,
visitors dominate on weekends. One should as well take a ride on
the elctric ship crossing the Straussee.
Mill wheels are still turning at the Wesendahler Mill, a visit
to the museum of local history is always worth a visit and tells
a lot of facts and storys.
